The second was installed in a module chicken tractor we got from the Amish market. Love the dusk to dawn function, battery backup, and the solar option.

This is our second auto door. Best $ I’ve spent. Raccoons decimated our flock each year prior to this door which is an improvement over our first that used a string/gravity to close. We have had zero entrances by predators since installing the auto door though claw marks are obvious.
My flock is absolutely “free range”, roam around barns, yard, in/out of garage through pet door, and follow me to see what I’m doing. Went from losing 15-20 a year to none when the door is closed. Only ones we lose now are those outside. Not cheap, but it works.

Needs improvement on closing sensitivity
The first door i received would not close consistently despite going thru several variations to the sensitivity.
The company graciously exchanged it for another one during the first year.
The second has lost all sensitivity and will not stop closing even with a steel toe boot ( had to manually open it again) in the door.
Unlike Goldilocks, i don’t need it just right but don’t want my flock left with an open door #1 or with a misfortunate accident. Door #2 i set to close later than i want but at least no tragedies from the door.
i did contact the company and let them know within the first month that this latest door stopped for nothing
I’m checking the door every night now. The last few months it also has a horrible screeching sound when opening or closing that doesn’t resolve with lubricant

When they work they are wonderful. However…Horrible screeching sound. Now doors struggling it seems to ope/close. I contacted company for support but still have not heard back from them. 2 doors are only 6 months old and covered not exposed to any weather elements. Nerve racking. I need support on how to fix this problem.

On my 2nd one, 1st generation on lasted about 5 Years, the newer on lasted about 6 Months. Not Sure sure about the design for the bar / Spring that comes all the way down. 1st the Solar Kit went out / Stop working, after about 2 months. So went back to plugging it in. Then after about another 4 months, after a rain storm, no power to head unit, something burned out, no lights come on, nothing. Tried to contact about the Solar issue, no one every replied, Sent emails and left voicemails. For the Cost, I would expect these to last longer, or at least have customer service for issues.

Pet Auto Doors are the BEST we have found!!! We previously tried others.
Well constructed, good operating design, excellently built and engineered electronics, simple operation.
We have been using their doors for approximately 6 years with two different models. While the first model worked fine the current model is an improved version.
Whenever we have a maintenance issue, rarely, Elam backs up his warranty. He even answers his own phone!
We have power to our coop & run so we use the plug-in version. We also just manually set the door and open times as needed, about once a month, very easy. We originally had the sunrise/sunset auto model but did not find the need for that this time.
We and the chickens sleep more secure with their nighttime quarters protected with the lowered door.
We will always use Pet Auto Doors for our coop!!!

The door is well made, however, the app is poor. It crashes when attempting to open app, takes multiple tries and even then there are times app still wont function. When you do get into app, it wants me to turn bluetooth on, but door is on wifi. And it is always asking to update but it never updates. This is very frustrating when the functionality you pay for is not very useable. The app producer/developer isnt much help with his own app, contact with developer can take weeks to achieve, and then its a few times of going back and forth w developer, but issue is never resolved before said developer goes MIA again. Developers communication is poor as well as the app. For the money we paid for this wifi feature on the door, its just not worth it if it works unreliably.

It was shipped and packaged in a very sturdy box. The door is a very high quality product. I had a hard time getting it to program to open. It took several tries to get the timer to accept my selected time. The close timer worked fine. It’s now working as advertised and as I selected. It’s easy to assemble and works great.
