Smart Chicken Door Marks One Year of Growth and Innovation Since Rebrand

It has been one year since Pet Auto Doors rebranded to Smart Chicken Door, a move designed to better reflect the company’s signature products. Founder Elam Miller said, “It’s been great to operate with a name that now better identifies with what we sell.”

Smart Chicken Door, initially founded in 2007 as part of Bird-in-and Pet Structures, is an Amish-run manufacturing company that produces chicken coops, dog kennels, and cabins. This hands-on experience with chicken coops inspired the creation of Pet Auto Doors, a company dedicated to developing the best automatic chicken coop doors on the market.

Although many customers knew the company by its former name, it didn’t fully represent its mission. “Our goal is to provide a heavy-duty, high-quality door that offers smarter options to make our customers’ lives a bit easier,” Miller said.

In October 2024, the company officially adopted the Smart Chicken Door name, representing both its innovative products and its commitment to offering customers a better, smarter solution for their coops.

Today, Smart Chicken Door offers four distinct automatic door options: a timer-controlled door, a Wi-Fi–enabled door, a solar-powered door with a timer, and a solar-powered door with Wi-Fi control. Some models can be operated entirely from a smartphone, giving chicken owners the ability to open or close their coop doors remotely and keep their flocks secure, even when they’re away from home.

Features like these embody the innovation behind Smart Chicken Door. Looking ahead, the company plans to continue refining its automatic chicken doors and expanding its line of high-quality, durable, and user-friendly products for backyard chicken owners.
